Hi all, or just a few of you, it’s my first post my audience expectations are a bit low. Welcome to my brand new blog, complete with that new blog smell (it’s a thing, smells like Pirate water to me). As you may have guessed from my name, I’ll be talking about musical stuff, the joys of being a pit musician, and all things Disneyland (actually all things Disney). If you didn’t realize, the title of this post is the opening line to Walt’s speech on July 17, 1955 for the grand opening. It seems fitting for this venture.
A bit of background about me. I’m a pit musician for a couple of local musical theater companies. I play flute (badly, but everyone has to start somewhere), clarinet, bass clarinet, soprano sax, alto sax, tenor sax, bari sax (yes I have to list them all individually), bassoon, piano, and mallet percussion. I sing too, but I’m a bit rusty. My brain keeps thinking I can still hit the really high notes like I was able to back in college and my vocal chords do NOT concur. I’ve been lucky to be involved in over 25 productions to date and plan on playing many more.
“Should we warn her about musicians”
“All she needs to know is that they keep them in a pit. And it’s for a good reason.”

Now for the Mouse Ears section. I’m an avid Disneyland addict, I have an annual pass and everything! I usually make it down to the parks every few months to satisfy my addiction to churros, dole whip, and the Pirates of the Caribbean ride (BEST RIDE EVER, in my not so humble opinion). I came by this addiction very honestly. My dad was lucky enough to go to the park as a kid back in 1956 and made absolutely sure his girls experienced the same magic that he did. So, many family vacations were taken to the happiest place on earth.

So, welcome to the fun, the craziness, the joy and insanity known as tech week, and my little blog.
